Group Drum Lessons in Northampton for Ages 6+ and Adults.

Trusted by Over 150 Local Students Since 2022

Our 45-minute weekly group classes are designed to help drummers feel confident, included, and excited to learn — even if they’ve never picked up sticks before.

From the very first session, students play alongside others, take on simple roles that matter, and experience what it feels like to be part of a supportive drumming team. Lessons are structured, welcoming, and led by experienced teachers who know how to build confidence and momentum week by week.

For kids and teens
Drumming becomes a place to belong. Students learn rhythm, teamwork, and focus while playing together in a positive group environment that channels energy, builds self-belief, and celebrates progress.

For adults
Our classes offer a chance to switch off, make music, and enjoy learning in a relaxed, friendly setting. No pressure, no judgement — just a welcoming group where it’s never too late (or too early) to start.

Alongside weekly classes, students can take part in themed workshops, termly events, and performance opportunities that bring our whole drumming community together — including our annual showcase, LinkFest.

Based in Northampton, Drummers Link is trusted by over 150 local students every week, from complete beginners to advanced players — all learning, playing, and growing together.

Group Drum Lessons

The big picture benefits

In your mind private lessons may be the best option for a child… but will you feel the same after you read these big picture benefits?

  • For many students a one-on-one lesson is just too intense. They don’t want the full attention of the teacher on them for the entire lesson.

  • Many students learn better within peer-learning contexts, especially while they are beginner/intermediate students.

  • Students get the opportunity to regularly be playing in front of other people, reducing performance anxiety.

  • Students hear other students ask questions they may not think to ask; this can lead to a deeper, richer learning experience.

  • There’s more of a sense of accountability and healthy competition when it comes to practising between lessons.

  • Students develop the skill of playing with others straight away, improving their ability to play in time and understand music within a group context.

  • Lifelong friendships form in group classes, making the desire to keep coming stronger.

  • Students can be asked to demonstrate something for another student, reinforcing what they’ve learned, and giving them a little ego boost in front of the class.

  • Group lessons typically include an independent learning element where students develop the skills to focus and practise alone without the teacher staring and listening to every note during that time.

  • Musical games are more fun in a group.

  • Students get a sense of how they’re progressing compared to the other students.
